American Late Classical Transitional Secretary Bookcase

Mid 19th century, walnut, burl walnut veneers, white pine and poplar secondary, transitional form with early Gothic influence, three part form, bold cove molded cornice above a veneered frieze, two glass cabinet hinged doors, three louvered shelves above three small side by side drawers, the base with a hinged fall writing lid and revealing an interior with well and pigeon holes, above two hinged cabinet doors, the whole raised on suppressed bun feet.

Cornice with veneer loss to left side edge; repair to cornice at left corner; veneer shrinkage cracks to hinged lid; replaced glass; other minor repairs.
