Everett Garrison and Hoagy B. Carmichael, A MASTER'S GUIDE TO BUILDING A BAMBOO FLY ROD (Katonah, New York: Martha's Glen Publishing Co., 1977), 296 pp. plus four blank note pages, quarto (11.5 x 8.75 in.), green linen boards with dust jacket, inscribed by Carmichael, "For Ralph Waite - Many, many hours were spent in the 'slant room' of your wonderful little house on Wood St. sounding out the text for this book. You may not need a copy of this book - but the house should have one - Best Wishes H Carmicahel 4/5/79."

This scarce book reveals the fly rod construction techniques of master builder Everett Garrison (1893-1975). Carmichael, son of the popular composer, be-friended the elderly Garrison and preserved the craftsman's legacy with this guide book. This copy was gifted to angler Ralph Waite, best known for his role as John Walton, Sr. in The Waltons on television.

Splits and chips to the dust jacket; board slightly warped; internally fine; overall a very good copy.
