From the Collection of the Late Roddy Cline, Lincolnton, NC The town of Shore, in Yadkin County, which existed for just eight years, was created in 1903 by an act of the General Assembly of North Carolina for the sole purpose of making whiskey after prohibition laws were passed. The act of incorporation specified that no whiskey could be sold in town. Five distilleries operated in Shore, including the maker I.C. Shore & Co., but they all shut down in 1908 when the state of North Carolina went dry.
