NC Storage Jar, Sylvanus Hartsoe (1850-1926)

Lincoln County, 2 gallon size, very dark alkaline glaze with prominent display of rutile (blue-white) coloration throughout, ovoid form with low collar, multiple incised lines at shoulder, applied lug handles, "SLH" stamp on one handle with "2" stamped on the other handle.

Clay with numerous original inclusions several of which have created small "pock marks" as well as a flake near one handle; otherwise excellent.
