Rare Cabinet Card With Composite Image of the Union High Command

Dated 1884 in the negative and published by the Nottman Photographic Co., Ltd. of Boston, this fanciful made-up image shows Abraham Lincoln with his generals (and Admiral David Farragut). The verso carries the publisher's ornate Gilded Age backmark and imprints for the Travelers Insurance Company. Once owned by Union veteran William Watlington, formerly Corporal, Co. "A," 3rd Indiana Cavalry.

Overall age toning with light browning to the mount's edges.
