Each panel of shield form slate enclosing micromosaic insets of architectural monuments of Rome, the first panel with (5) oval insets centered with the Vatican (1 5/8 x 2 1/8 in.) and with (4) insets to include the Coliseum and the Roman Forum (1 x 1 3/8 in.); the second panel with (9) micromosaic insets centered with an oval view of the Vatican (1 5/8 x 1 7/8 in.) and with (8) circular insets depicting other monuments of Rome (7/8 in.).
