Circa 1880, Swiss, possibly executed by Louis Meichtry Brienz, finely carved lindenwood, depicting a playful bear climbing a fir tree after a young cub, above outstretched branches serving as garment hooks and flanking the original beveled looking glass, umbrella stand with metal liner.

Estate of the late Frederick Wuntch, New York City, NY and Richmond, VA Finely carved and appears to retain original paint especially around the bear's mouth and head.
Break and repair to one branch at upper left; larger bear body and base with later but old brown paint.
