Cast as a ship's wheel, the back plate with serial #172642, "71" at bottom and a plate with a 1901 patent date and naming the Chelsea Clock Co., Boston as the maker, the steel dial reading TIFFANY & CO. / NEW YORK and SHIP'S BELL, the clock is set into its original bronze and mahogany stand.

The back of the stand has a fairly recent, though undated, repairman's business card; below is another's address sticker with a 1992 service date.
