Watercolor and gouache on paper, signed and dated in pencil at lower right "Ivy 1939," matted and framed under glass. Originally from Missouri, Gregory Ivy accepted a position as head of the art department at the Woman's College in Greensboro (now UNC-G) in 1935 and was instrumental in developing the department and establishing the Weatherspoon Art Museum. A highly respected modernist, Ivy exhibited his work throughout the country during his lifetime and in 2006 the Weatherspoon featured a retrospective of his work.
