Roy Gussow, born in Brooklyn, came to North Carolina State University in 1951 as a visiting professor. He became an associate professor at the NCSU College of Design in 1952 an a full professor by 1958. In 1962 he returned to NYC and later opened a large studio in an old silverplate manufactory on Long Island. His influence on the early design school is memorialized by "Ellipsoid Construction" (or "The Egg"), a chromium steel sculpture on the NCSU campus.
Several minor original casting flaws; some rubbing to wood base.
