Rudolf Ausleger (German, 1897-1974), Still Life

Oil pastel on board, signed and dated at lower left "R. Ausleger '28," tabletop still life with guitar, presented in an attractive contemporary gilt frame under glass.

SS 19 x 24 in.; DOA 25.75 x 30 in.

This painting was completed not long after Ausleger joined ranks with the "Novembergruppe" and adopted a Synthetic Cubist syle. As he was labeled a "degenerate" painter by the Nazis, many of his works were destroyed before and during WWII.
