Mid-19th century, likely Swiss, oil on canvas of a riverside village scene to the forefront with castle and distant mountains in the background, tall clock tower is incorporated in the art as a means of enclosing a timepiece. Housed in an appropriate gilt wood frame, hinged at the top to allow access to key wind the time and strike mechanisms.
