Watercolor on ivory, the first of Beethoven after Joseph Karl Stieler's portrait of the composer working on the "Missa solemnis," signed in the upper right N. Stahl; the second of Franz Schubert after Wilhelm August Rieder, signed P. Forg. Both are housed in nicely ornamented frames of mother of pearl, scrolled brass work, and possibly tortoiseshell under convex glass with foliate bezel.
