Late 19th century, carved polychrome heads, hands and feet, depicting soldiers, the first (37.5 in.) wears a cap, brown tunic, silk skirt and pantaloons, a partial "Made in Italy" label is on his left foot; the second (42.5 in.), appears to be a young hussar wearing high boots and a uniform boasting seven authentic military buttons.
Proceeds to benefit the American Dance Festival, Durham, North Carolina
Paint chipping to both; splits to visor and strap of first puppet's cap; mothing and fractured silk throughout. With custom stands.
