Oil on canvas, unsigned, retaining old paper label on the verso reading "St. Alban's Cottage / North End, / Hammersmith Gate, W." and inscribed "Walter Anderson," "No. 2," and "An Unclouded Sky." The frame also retains a partial label from James Bourlet listing the address as 17 Nassau St.

Walter Anderson, husband of the noted Victorian painter Sophia Anderson, also specialized in sweet portraits of young children in idyllic settings. Like his wife, he was able to capture the innocence of his sitters while maintaining a sense of individualism.
