Peter Voulkos (Am., 1924-2002), Bottle Vase

A bulbous form vase with tapered neck. A rust colored glaze adorns a grey and green speckled field. Signed "Voulkos" to the underside of the base. This is a great example of mid-century pottery from the "Father of the American Clay Revolution," which turned craft into high art.
