Walnut case with marquetry, the top having a molded edge and an applied molded lip, decorative elements applied to the front and sides, hand-forged hinges, lock, and side handles, cove molded base, raised on Spanish feet.

Overall wear expected with age; hinges and lock may be later replacements; Two patches to the lid and a 4.5 in. section of front edge molding replaced; damage to the front right corner; till hinge not functioning; later braces to the interior front corners; feet with wear and some loss.
