"P. Henry," one page folded letter with address panel en verso, quarto (6 x 8 in.), September 27, 1773, to Captain George Carrington, Cumberland (Virginia). The letter reads "Sir - I recd. yours relating to Mr. Davies's affairs. His supersede as with Ransome stands to the 3rd day the 11th cause; so that there is no manner of chance to try it on this Co. To give an opinion on it is needless as it must want the decision of the court on the face of the papers now filed. Nothing new can be introduced. I sent you by Mr. Miller some receipts for Clerks tickets. With greatest regards I am Your most obt servt P. Henry P.S. I now write to Mr. Davies." Housed in a 20th century wooden frame with an earlier lithographic portrait of Henry. The recipient of this letter was Chairman of the Committee of Safety for Cumberland County.

Surviving Patrick Henry signatures are usually found on Virginia land grants bestowed during his terms as governor. Correspondence entirely in his hand is much scarcer.
A few small marginal splits, overall toning. Quite bold and legible.
