Ockbrook National School Sampler, English,1833

Silk on linen, nicely executed sampler by Rebecca Dowman, with top panel consisting of flower baskets and trees surmounting a pious verse, with colorful stitched parrot as a central register, with house and fruit trees composing bottom panel, all enclosed within an undulating vine border. The maker has stitched her name with verse honoring her parents and "Ockbrook / National School / 1833, housed in relief carved wooden frame.
