Charles C. Rumsey (NY, 1873 - 1922), Bronze Puma

Signed "C. C. Rumsey" behind the recumbent cat's tail; marked "Roman Bronze Works N. Y." on the lower rear side; the casting rests on a fitted wooden base. A wealthy and socially prominent Harvard graduate, Rumsey maintained a New York studio after having studied in Paris. The artist favored bronze sculpture and is best known for his equestrian works.
