Gorham Medallion Coin Silver Butter Dish

Third quarter 19th century, of circular form with an interior pierced tray and ice chamber, the domed cover has a flame finial and is decorated with bright-cut fleur-de-lis and engraved with the initials "DAA". The base features applied handles cast with a child writing on a tablet as well as a classical medallion to each side. Raised on a circular footed base. Bottom with Gorham mark and #340.
