Late 18th century, probably Lancaster County, strikingly figured tiger maple with poplar secondary, the slant lid opens to reveal a serpentine interior of drawers and pigeon holes having reeded valances, flanking a central prospect; two secret compartments await discovery; the case has four graduated lipped drawers (with wedged dovetail construction) cornered with horizontally reeded turned quarter columns raised on bold spurred ogee bracket feet.
