Likely Mt. Vernon, Illinois, worked in silk on linen and inscribed "Ilberry / Susan Payne's Sampler / wrought in the 11th year of her / age A.D. 1836 * The fashion of / this world passeth away." With floral band border and floral register surmounting alphabet rows. Housed in antique mahogany frame with gilt fillet.
