All four pieces with Sheffield (1862) hallmarks to handles and blades, John Nowell sponsor's mark, the handles in a raised strapwork motif, the knife blades with decorative foliate and swag engraving, each engraved with the Jopp family crest featuring the motto "Sic Donec (Thus Until)" above a cockerel with wheat.
