The Collection of LCDR George Lee Weddington, Jr., USN (Ret.) and Mrs. Elizabeth “Betsy” Gardner Weddington The late George and Betsy Weddington of New York City and Warrenton, NC prized education, hard work and public service throughout their noteworthy lives. George was already a highly decorated Navy fighter pilot in 1965 when he married Betsy, a talented television actress and insightful freelance columnist. Their mutual passion for American history and genealogy would later drive the Weddingtons to tirelessly support the many heritage and civic organizations that were fortunate enough to count them as members. The multiple awards presented to George and Betsy over the years bear witness to their enduring legacy of good citizenship at its finest.

These candelabra derive from a design for similar candelabra by the neoclassical architect Charles Percier as part of a commission to furnish Empress Josephine's bedroom at the Château de Saint-Cloud, where they were identified in the 1805 and 1807 inventories.
