John Nicholas Choate Cabinet Card Image of American Indian

Circa 1880, the subject identified on the back with an inscription reading, "Poor Wolf Tattooed Mandan Chief", below that an imprint reading, "J. N. Choate, Photographer for Indian Training School, Carlisle Barracks, PA." Poor Wolf's "tattoos appear to be applied with paint...and he is wearing glasses.
