Wyeth painted this intimate view on the edge of River Cove, an isolated narrow cove on the St. George River accessed only by a winding path on the James family farm in Broad Cove, Cushing, Maine. Another iconic view of this cove is housed in the collections of the Portland Museum of Art.

This watercolor will be included in Betsy James Wyeth's forthcoming catalogue raisonné of the artist's work.
