Both weapons .54 caliber, with 8.5 in. round barrel marked US/JH/P, the tang dated 1847, the lockplate with US / H. ASHTON before hammer and MIDDtn / CONN / 1847 behind hammer, walnut stock stamped with NWP and WAT cartouches, fitted with brass barrel band, trigger guard and butt strap, a small P stamped on the side plate and on the front of the trigger guard, affixed with a swivel ramrod; the leather holster lacking flaps as made and pierced to rest on a saddle's pommel.
Working action; a few minor marks to the stocks; strong cartouche impressions; areas of light pitting to the barrel; clean without a "cleaned" appearance; the holster's leather with some crazing and a 1 in. horizontal split; its strap lacking any sort of buckle.
