Caswell County, North Carolina, circa 1850s, mahogany and highly figured book-matched mahogany veneers, poplar secondary, the three drawer chest has an inset half marble top, supports a swing mirror centered between two tall narrow storage cabinets, each with shelved interiors. The bureau features applied ribbon molding to each drawer, applied turned carvings to the front stiles, and a scrolled skirt. The mirror and side cabinets have applied carved and pierced crests as well as applied decorative moldings.
