Molded in the manner of 19th century Pennsylvania redware, this large and important earthenware work has a the surface decorated with streaks of manganese and daubs of yellow slip under a clear lead glaze, details include an open roaring mouth with applied lower fangs, a protruding tongue, curled tail, incised eyes, impressed on the bottom "BH / 59".
