19th century, mahogany, with brass mounts, hinged lid opens to reveal a fabric covered writing surface, both sides of the writing surface open to show a single open compartment respectively, along one edge of interior is five smaller compartments retaining glass inkwells, under the five compartments are three secret drawers accessed from the interior compartment under the writing surface, mounted brass pull in interior opens secret compartment below the writing surface interiors.
