Serial number 12571 (circa 1878), 32 in. barrels (manufacturer's markings illegible), plate on forestock stamped PAT.1878, plate in front of trigger guard stamped PAT.18 66/78, engravings of gamefowl and pointer on sideplates, the butt stock inlaid with plain gold oval on the base of the grip and a small brass shield on top behind the hammers.
