Federal Carved and Gilt Girondole Mirror

Early 19th century, carved and gilt wood, featuring spread wing eagle pediment, with convex mirror with ebonized reeded surround, flanked by spiral twist sconces, terminating in carved and gilt wing and rosette.

42 x 30 in diameter.

This mirror was included in the Mint Museum, Charlotte, exhibition "North Carolina Collects."

Pediment carvings re-stabilized at back; some shrinkage cracks to frame; gilding loss; wear to silver of mirror.
