A Private Collection of American Contemporary Art Hearst Castle is a hilltop estate in San Simeon, California that William Randolph Hearst built as his residence in the early 20th century. Famous guests to the mansion - which Hearst originally called "La Cuesta Encantada" ("The Enchanted Hill") - included Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Cary Grant. Hearst Castle boasts sweeping views, Renaissance and Baroque-inspired architecture, and the lovely gardens pictured in this dream-like photograph. Featured here is the marble sculpture of a girl feeding a young goat by French artist Marcel Courbier.
No apparent condition concerns; not examined out of frame.
