Van Noppen, 1905-1908), in seven volumes, approximately 2,800 pp., small quarto (9.75 x 6.5 in.), leather-bound covers with gilt front and spine, free endpaper imprinted "Limited to seven hundred and fifty registered and numbered sets, of which this set is number 54 (manuscript)." The stories of North Carolina's prominent historical figures are told here in alphabetical order, each biography being accompanied by an engraved portrait of its subject. An extremely rare set that is usually unavailable anywhere.
Extensive chipping to the spines; internally very good condition.
