Linocut printed in colored inks to commemorate the Women Walk Home movement for a re-unification of Cyprus, the work numbered and signed in the lower margin. Matted under glass and framed (DOA 42.5 x 54 in.); Included are a large cotton parade banner from one of the three Women Walk Home marches that were held in 1975, 1987, and 1989, it reads "WE COME IN PEACE" (34.5 x 141 in.); plus a dried foliate collection under glass with museum display plaque reading "Flowers collected by Kathrin Koonce during the Third 'Women Walk Home' demonstration on March 19, 1989, at Lymbia, Cyprus."
A Single-Owner Collection of Cypriot History & Culture from The Cyprus Museum of Jacksonville, North Carolina Hambis Tsangaris was born in Kontea, a village located in the Turkish-occupied northeastern region of Cyprus. His work reflects a deep love for the island's traditional culture and expresses a desire to heal the current political division between Greek and Turkish Cypriots.
