This original illustration, titled "Cops at Ease in the Muster Room of a Station," accompanied the article Nineteen Thousand Cops published in the July 1939 issue of Fortune Magazine. This issue was dedicated to the city of New York and included a total of ten paintings by Riggs for this article on New York City's police department. This illustration is published in The Lithographs of Robert Riggs by Ben Bassham (p. 44).

Some smudging to mat board; minor adhesive residue to corners (hidden by mat); and very minor cockling to sheet.
