Purdy Family Embroidered Silk Crib Quilt, 1893

Comprised of individual silk blocks each worked in multi-color silk threads depicting an assembled array of whimsical motifs to include children at play, birds, animals, fruits, floral sprays, a flag, among others, bottom panel with name and date, squares joined with various embroidery stitches, housed under glass in a gilt decorated wood frame.
