Engraved on the underside of the flange "This is the first Silver Plate ever used by Hyder Ally, Sultan of Mysore, having been made from the plunder taken by him at the capture of Arcot, and was presented to C. M. Lushington Esq.re by the Dewan of Mysore in 1831," unknown maker, rubbed partial mark to center of well, the shaped flange with decorative bird and branch motif.
