Oxford India Paper Dickens, being
The Complete Works of Charles Dickens. In Seventeen Volumes (London: Chapman & Hall, Limited; and Henry Frowde, n.d., circa 1900), 24 titles, 12mo (7 in.), limp red morocco, gilt to spines and top page edges. This collection was a gift from Henry Dickens to Ella Belle Taylor upon her 1910 wedding to Walter Brown. The case housing the collection is personalized "Ella Belle" and "27 Dec. 1910" in gilt; included is a Charles Dickens signed 1866 check tipped into
A Tale of Two Cites; a cabinet card photograph of the author's son, Henry Fielding Dickens, with his signature; a privately printed booklet dated "Christmas 1938" and titled "
The Charles Dickens ABC" in which all of the characters of the Dickens novels are listed alphabetically, card covers, (11.25 x 5 in.), inscribed to Ella Belle Taylor from Henry's widow, Mumsie.
The books are in very good condition retaining full gilt; box with some shelf wear, soling and chips; the lid detached, but present.
