Etching and drypoint on laid paper, circa 1641, a 17th century/lifetime impression of Bartsch and Biörklund-Barnard's first state (of 2), Usticke's first state (of 3), sheet bears a portion of a "Foolscap with Five-Pointed Collar" watermark (Ash/Fletcher 19), matted and framed. Sheet bears an ink inscription in an old hand to the verso attributed by Lugt to an unidentified 18th century collector of Rembrandt etchings [Lugt 1860d].
Ex-collection of Wilhelm Koller (Austrian, died 1871), a collector known for his excellent connoisseurship, with his collection stamp [Lugt 2632] in black ink on the verso.
Ex-collection of Theodore Irwin (American, 1827-1902), who was known for the quality of his Rembrandt and Dürer print collection, and sheet bears his collection stamp [Lugt 1540].
Overall a delicately-detailed impression on a bright clean sheet; few very small light brown stains; small tear upper right edge about 1.5 mm; some expected age to sheet.
