Circa 1780, crest with engraved plaque reading
From Wm. Penn's Mansion Philadelphia, shaped crestrail and stiles with scratchbead to exterior edge, pierced backsplat with center stylized quatrefoil, set within a molded shoe, over upholstered seat, through side rail tenon construction, straight front molded legs with inside chamfer, stretcher base, downswept rear legs.

Later upholstery was done by Richard Waters, a retired Colonial Williamsburg restoration specialist, who works in conjunction with Guenther Wood Group.
