Circa 1900, oil on canvas, signed
S McShane/painter lower right, the scene depicts mounted officers inspecting the immediate aftermath of an unknown battle; the central figure is likely U. S. Grant as it is very similar to a war-date Currier & Ives lithograph of the general astride a fanciful white horse. The painting is on its original stretcher in an ornate gilt and gesso frame.
DOA 23.25 x 26.25 in.; SS 16.5 x 19.75
