Meiji period (1868-1912), attributed to Hozan, his signature to underside of vase, large porcelain vase hand painted with two large scenes of Japanese figures engaged in a myriad of activities, all finely painted with exquisite detail, these scenes are surrounded by an ornate gilt pattern border and beyond a dark sapphire blue ground with gilt floral sprays, a very complimentary bronze lamp foot and rim mount, vase drilled for lamp fitting, two light bulb fixture, no shade.
HOA 35 in.; Vase only 15.5 in.
Good estate condition; vase drilled for lamp fitting; artist's signature has been drilled through; lightbulb and finial fixtures are loose but remain.
