Made in Birmingham, 18.5 in. round barrel with .577 caliber proofs at breech, walnut stock, the lockplate stamped with 1861/TOWER under the hammer and a crown behind the hammer; export markings to the Confederacy include a JS/Anchor stamped on the stock behind trigger guard tang while a large S is on the butt in front of the buttplate tang which is stamped "9403"; the owner's initials "JHR" are prominently carved on the left side of the butt.
From the Collection of a Virginia Gentleman Action will not stay cocked; wear and numerous dings from use; evidence of exterior cleaning to barrel, but overall pleasing surfaces to both metal and wooden elements.
