Born to Swedish immigrants, Ernest Fredericks was the pseudonym of Frederick Swedlun. He studied at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art and exhibited at the Chicago Art Institute. He moved with his family to Arkansas and is best known for his landscape paintings of the Ozark Highlands.
