Lot Details & Additional Photographs
.54 caliber, 8.5 in. smoothbore round barrel, marked with P and V over a palmetto stamp at breech, "WM GLAZE & CO" to left flat, fixed brass sight at bore; the lockplate with PALMETTO ARMORY encircling a tree in front of the hammer and having COLUMBIA SC, 1852 behind the hammer; walnut stock with brass mounts, the sideplate joined to the barrel band while the backstrap incorporates the butt cap.

Only 1,000 of these Southern pistols were made and they are rightly considered secondary Confederate side arms by collectors.

Working action; lacking ramrod and swivel; armory logo is quite worn; trigger plate has AWN338 crudely scratched into the surface; small, old crack to the stock above the sideplate; light oxidation and pitting to iron, expected dings and scratches from field use.
