Imported C. R. Kirschbaum Model 1840 Cavalry Saber

C. K. punched into ricasso of 35.25 in. blade, no other markings, brass guard and pommel, wooden grip bound with brass wire; heavy iron scabbard with traces of black paint and two suspension rings.

Kirschbaum swords were used by both sides in the Civil War.

Light oxidation to blade as expected; deep patina to the brass elements; the wooden grip with shrinkage and losses, retaining only a few strands of its wire binding.
