Two Chinese Silk Embroidered Panels

Late 19th century, includes a vertical panel with young boys embroidered in the Forbidden Stitch (Peking Knot) technique amidst large floral sprays of plum, peony, and chrysanthemum against a navy silk ground, reverse lined with light blue silk (30 1/2 x 63 in.; some fading to light blue silk lining), and a larger vertical panel, a navy silk ground top border embroidered in gold metallic thread with bats and peonies, lower section of panel is embroidered with many auspicious symbols in metallic thread and in Peking Knot technique, butterflies, phoenixes, bats, double gourds, pomegranates, and peaches against a light tan printed silk ground, lined with light blue silk (81 1/2 x 55 3/4 in.; areas of staining to both the reverse lining and front side of panel; reverse has a hole to lining and some black marks; paper sticker to lower corner of reverse lining).
