Private Collection, North Carolina Creil-Montereau faience is a fine lead-glazed earthenware on a white body originating in the French regions of Creil and of Montereau, which unified since 1819. The faience of Creil-Montereau introduced the industrial technique of transfer printing on pottery in France perfecting the technique during the later 19th century.
Crazing typically found on faience; some pigment skips to underside; several areas of gilt loss to the upper rim; good condition.
